Resume

Objective: to improve the effectiveness of surgical treatment methods with small intestine intubation when performing interintestinal anastomosis in infants and young children with congenital atresia of the small and large intestines. Materials and methods: A total of 113 infants and children of breast-feeding age with congenital atresia of the small and large intestine underwent surgery. The patients were divided into 2 groups depending on the method of surgical intervention: the first group (with the use of adapted anastomosis) consisted of 78 (69%) children, the second group (with stoma formation) consisted of 35 (31%) infants and children. The results obtained were processed using the method of variational statistics, the reliability of the difference was calculated using the Student's t-test, р < 0.05. Results and discussion: 78 (69%) patients had intestinal anastomoses, 35 (31%) patients had stomas, of which 16(10.6%) had jejunostomies, 12(7.8%) had ileostomies and 7(4.6%) had colostomies. The cases where we had to use an upper jejunostomy were caused by a very high ratio of the two intestinal sections, i.e. 6:1, and the elimination of such an upper jejunostomy was carried out after a maximum of 21 days. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the feasibility of using the proposed method of adaptation of the intestinal anastomosis and small bowel intubation in the surgical treatment of newborns and infants with small and large intestinal atresia, as well as the widespread use of the developed algorithms.
